Square Feet vs. Square Meters

The rest of the world is sane. America is not. That’s why we still insist on our own odd measurements that just don’t measure up to the rest of the world. This is confusing for foreign buyers who are used to measuring out apartments in square meters. Not square feet. So just to keep everything straight, remember that 1 square foot comes out to 0.0929 square meters and 100 square feet comes out to 9.29 (or almost 10) square meters. Get it? So basically, a 500 square foot apartment comes to almost 50 square meters. (Just shave off a little).  A 1000 square foot apartment is a little less than 100 square meters. Once you’ve got this in mind, it’s easy to figure out approximate measurements in square meters when your realtor is rattling off apartment sizes in square feet!
